Friends are always swinging through town asking what to do, so here are my recommendations by area:

Hollywood / West Hollywood / Larchmont Village

Griffith ObservatoryNo better view of Los Angeles and one of the largest observatories in the country.

Runyon Canyon – Three different trails that can suit any hiker.  As you ascend higher, the view gets better.

Larchmont Village Pizzeria – this place has the best pizza in LA.  Larchmont Village is great to walk around afterwards.

The Griddle - Best breakfast (maybe on the west coast), my advice is to order a light (they will bring you just one pancake), because the portions are huge.  Get there before 10am on weekends – the line builds.

Arclight – If you are going to take in a movie, do it here, reserved seating and the famous Cinerama Dome.

Malibu

The Getty Villa (on the PCH) – can’t beat the views and the price is right, free! You need reservations prior to going.

The Country Martopen air shopping center, great to sit outside and grab a sandwich to take in the scenery.

Duke’s Malibu - yes its a chain restaurant that has upscale bar food, where you can watch the ocean smack against the glass windows.

Santa Monica

3rd street Promenade – All the typical stores, typical outdoor tourist stop.

Main Street – Another nice outdoor area, with more local places including a wide variety of restaurants.

Venice

C&O Trattoria – The best garlic rolls in LA.

More to come……..
